Urban Peak has several volunteer opportunities which help us with our workload and support our young people.

Last year, volunteers contributed 19,000 hours to Urban Peak - a great savings to the agency!

The Community Steps Up for Homeless Youth

This summer, members of the community are stepping up to help youth at Urban Peak.  From songwriting workshops, to hairdos, to screen printing, and more, we greatly appreciate the efforts of these amazing people to share their lives.  

Ink Lounge screenprinting workshopStu Alden of Idaho Stew and Ink Lounge demonstrates the art of screen printing for youth in UP Education and Employment’s Job Readiness program as part of a summer long workshop series.

Youth at Babooshka

Stylists from Babooska salon got together at their shop on Colfax to give a group of UP youth a gift of self-confidence though free haircuts and styles.

 

 

Andy Hackbarth songwriting workshop at Shelter

Award-winning Nashville songwriter Andy Hackbarth works with youth at the UP Shelter in a songwriting workshop. Hackbarth also collected donations for Urban Peak at his recent CD release party.

 

 

COMMUNITY DAY 2010

Each year, the Concerts For Kids’ Community Day brings 800 volunteers together to complete over 4,800 hours of work in one, six-hour day. On May 22, 30 volunteers will be working at Urban Peak’s Shelter helping repair and paint in the youth dorms. Urban Peak also partners with CFK on the Tiri’s Garden urban gardening project.

For the past two years, Room & Board has supported Urban Peak. What’s special is that Room & Board is involved in every area of
giving, from time, to talent, to treasure.

To date, they have:
• Made financial contributions
• Promoted UP event ticket sales at their store
• Donated furniture, painted and cleaned apartments for Housing
• Served Community Breakfast monthly at the Shelter
• Held mock interviews for youth in Education & Employment

And they continue to seek more ways to give! We are so grateful for the kindness and generosity of this outstanding group of people. Thank you, Room & Board!
